Liberty Sanders recently completed her Marketing Executive Apprenticeship with Savills through Oxford Professional Education. Read on as Liberty shares insights into her apprenticeship and how it has positively impacted her role at Savills.
What was your background before starting your apprenticeship?
Straight after finishing college I went into a 2 month work experience contract where I discovered my want for a career in marketing. My previous employer funded for me to complete the Level 3 Foundation certificate in Professional Marketing and thought the Level 4 apprenticeship would be a good next step. I then moved roles into Savills, who continued to support me throughout this apprenticeship.
Why did you decide to sign up to the apprenticeship?
My employer thought that it would be beneficial to continue my studies after completing the Level 3 with CIM and Oxford Professional Education. To allow me the dedicated study time, the apprenticeship was a better route for me to study alongside my normal work. I was keen to do this as i could learn new skills and at the same time progress my career.
How did you find studying an apprenticeship?
I found the apprenticeship enjoyable as it was easy to balance work and studying. The programme was easier to follow on a monthly basis and the this allowed me to challenge myself on what i learnt.
How does the apprenticeship support your daily work?
The apprenticeship allows you to be more involved in areas that you don’t usually deal with on a day to day, and helps you learn more about the business. It allows you to think of new ways of doing things in your role and educate peers on processes they may not have heard of before.
Tell us about the company and what your job role involves?
Savills is a real estate property provider that covers commercial, residential and rural sectors. I work within the commercial marketing team, helping divisions plan and implement marketing activities and collateral to better sell their services, whilst increasing client relationships.
How does Oxford Professional Education Group support you in your apprenticeship?
They provide extensive resources to help you within your personal and study life. They were easily contactable and are always willing to help if you need support. Within monthly sessions, they will educate you on all elements of marketing, providing you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress in your career.
Would you recommend this apprenticeship to others?
Definitely! It is a brilliant route into a career in marketing and is very valued by employers when looking for future roles.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting an apprenticeship?
Go for it! An apprenticeship will give you all the skills you need for the career, while being able to put these into action in your current role. You experience the perfect balance of off and on the job learning, and have the opportunity to challenge yourself by learning new things.
