Samuel Cullen recently completed his Marketing Executive Apprenticeship Level 4 through Oxford Professional Education. Read on as Samuel shares insights into his apprenticeship and how it has positively impacted his role.
What was your background before starting your apprenticeship?
Before starting the apprenticeship I had been working in marketing for two years in a generalist assistant role, supporting across all marketing channels, with a focus on content production and copywriting.
Why did you decide to sign up to the apprenticeship?
I wanted to enhance my skills and learn more of the theory that supports marketing. I also thought that the apprenticeship would be a good opportunity to learn different approaches to different marketing activities and channels.
How did you find studying an apprenticeship?
I found the apprenticeship to be a very informative and easy to digest course. The information was engaging and extremely useful and I feel that I have been supported throughout the 18 month course.
How does the apprenticeship support your daily work?
My daily work now consists of marketing project management as well as producing a range of content and copy for campaigns distributed across a range of channels. Learning stakeholder and project management tools and skills within the apprenticeship has greatly enabled me to thrive in my role.

If there were any points throughout the apprenticeship that I was unsure about I always received prompt and helpful advice and support. I would definitely recommend this apprenticeship course to those who wish to enhance their existing skillset, learn about marketing as a whole, whilst gaining vital experience. I think that this course is also a fantastic recommendation to those who are exploring a new career path within marketing.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting an apprenticeship?
I would suggest that organisation and time management is key to staying on top of tasks, learning resources and assessments. Also, do not be afraid to ask a question either during learning sessions or after, everyone on the course is always happy to help and you may be helping someone else who had a similar question.
