Manuela De Simoni is the Performance Marketing Lead at Neptune Software. Manuela tells us about his employer apprenticeship story and what it’s like for his company to take on a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprentice through Oxford Professional Education.
Can you tell us a little bit about your company?
Neptune Software is a leading vendor in no-code/low-code application development, proudly serving over 800 companies worldwide and impacting more than 5 million end-users. Our platform empowers IT departments, business counterparts, and operations teams to accelerate digital transformation by enabling users to create applications quickly and efficiently.
What were your reasons for taking on an apprentice?
We wanted to bring fresh perspectives and new energy to the team while supporting the development of young talent in the marketing field. As our marketing efforts evolve, an apprentice can help us tackle a growing number of projects while learning critical skills on the job.
The apprenticeship landscape can be quite confusing, particularly for those employers perhaps considering taking on an apprentice for the first time.
How easy did you find it to start an apprentice on programme with us?
Starting an apprenticeship was straightforward, thanks to the support provided by the program. Having clear guidance on the administrative and onboarding processes made it manageable, even for a first-time apprenticeship employer.
Can you see progression in your apprentice’s workplace skills due to the programme?
Absolutely. Anthony is a quick learner and has shown significant progress since starting. He grasps new tools and concepts rapidly, which has allowed him to gain confidence in handling marketing tasks over time. Beyond technical skills, he’s improving his time management and organization, which are critical for balancing the demands of his role. He’s on a promising path toward taking on more responsibilities in the near future.
How satisfied are you with the skills and knowledge of your OXPE trainer?
The OXPE trainer, Naomi, has been very supportive and responsive, providing clear and timely answers to questions and taking the time to explain things thoroughly. This has helped Anthony to feel confident and well-supported throughout the program.
Do you feel that OXPE is a flexible and responsive organisation that supports both apprentices and employers?
Yes, the OXPE has been flexible and responsive, providing consistent support to Anthony, ensuring he has the resources needed to progress and to us, making the process smooth, and addressing any questions or concerns promptly.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about taking on an apprentice?
Be prepared to invest time in mentoring and guiding the apprentice. It’s important to set clear expectations and provide them with meaningful tasks that contribute to their learning. Regular feedback sessions can make a big difference in their professional development and confidence. Also, view apprenticeships as a two-way learning process and stay open to the fresh ideas and perspectives they bring to your team.
Oxford Professional Education is a main provider of apprenticeships. We help a range of organisations find suitable apprentices and provide training for the qualifications. If you are interested in taking on an apprentice, get in touch with our team to find out how we can help.
