This pioneering programme focuses on the necessary skills for streamlining processes and supporting continuous improvement, through the safe and responsible use of automation integration and AI tools.

By the end of this programme, apprentices will be in a position to take ownership of specific projects and tasks, and deliver value and productivity with the effective command of digital tools.

Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeships are delivered through a blend of virtual and face to face sessions, led by subject specialists. Our flexible delivery mode and small cohort sizes enable us to tailor apprenticeship programmes to your unique requirements.

Please note, this standard is currently being developed.

For apprentices aged 16-18, achieving Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English is mandatory, unless you have already achieved the equivalent GCSE at grade 4/C, or above.

For apprentices aged 19 and over, undertaking Functional Skills is optional, but this must be agreed in advance with your employer.

Once you have completed the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation Practitioner programme, you will be able to exhibit the following behaviours:

Knowledge:

Understand the role of organisational leadership in responsible AI adoption – including setting values, policy and strategy.

Understand the capabilities, benefits and risks, of automation.

Master the methods for assuring compliance in AI and automation projects – including documentation of model decision-making, conducting structured risk assessments, and aligning implementation with recognised AI assurance and governance frameworks.

Develop the principles and practices for long-term monitoring of AI and automation solutions.

Skills:

To be able to undertake analysis to identify if automation is viable.

To be able to use automation design tools to suit the organisational context – to configure, adapt and implement solutions.

To contribute to the creation and/or adaption of resources such as user guides, training materials, and process documents to meet user requirements.

Behaviours:

To demonstrate empathy by actively considering the perspectives and concerns of staff who may be impacted by AI-driven change.

To develop the capability to support leaders when considering the impact of AI automation adoption, not just immediate organisational gains.

To demonstrate curiosity and initiative, experimenting with AI and automation, while ensuring such exploration is conducted safely, ethically, and with regard for potential impacts.
