The programme focuses on customer relationship management, including how to grow existing accounts, generate new business and close deals. Apprentices will learn how to create a positive customer experience by analysing customer needs and developing solutions. 

The Sales Executive Apprenticeship is a Level 4 programme designed for those in junior sales roles. Upon completion, apprentices will have gained a comprehensive understanding of sales techniques and strategies.

What’s Involved

Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeships are delivered through a blend of virtual and face to face sessions, led by subject specialists. Our flexible delivery mode and small cohort sizes enable us to tailor apprenticeship programmes to your unique requirements.

During the programme, apprentices will cover a range of core sales topics, including:

  • Undertaking Sales Presentations / Demonstrations
  • Negotiating, Handling Objections, and Closing Sales
  • Building and Retaining Effective Sales Relationships
  • Managing Sales Territories or Portfolios
  • Determining Selling Priorities across a Portfolio
  • Developing Sales Proposals and Quotations

For apprentices aged 16-18, achieving Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English is mandatory, unless already obtained the equivalent GCSE at grade 4/C or above.

For apprentices aged 19 and over, undertaking Functional Skills is optional but must be agreed with the employer.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, Sales Executive Apprentices will gain the following knowledge and skills, and will be able to exhibit the following behaviours:

Knowledge:

Organisational Knowledge – Understand your organisation’s vision, overall strategy, and specific sales/marketing objectives.

Customer Knowledge – How to analyse the macro and micro environment of individual customers, as well as understanding of what constitutes a high-quality customer experience.

Commercial and Financial Acumen – Knowledge of return on investment, budgeting and the impact of any discount or variation in terms that you may offer.

Skills:

Sales Planning and Preparation – Set effective targets using sales forecasts to plan how to maximise return-on-investment in line with your organisation’s strategy.

Customer Engagement – Develop a customer engagement style that opens sales conversations, builds rapport, enhances customer relationships, and adapts to different preferences.

Negotiation – Research the customer’s likely desired outcomes and negotiating stance, and develop responses to likely objections.

Behaviours:

Resilience and Self-Motivation – Demonstrate the ability to recover from setbacks, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity.

Proactivity – Plan and lead sales conversations and make recommendations to support the customers’ requirements.

Ethics and Integrity – Present yourself as an ambassador for your brand, and act in accordance with your organisation’s values at all times.
