Mia Ingerfield has completed her Marketing Manager Apprenticeship with HomeServe through Oxford Professional Education. Mia passed her apprenticeship with an impressive two distinctions and here she tells us about what she learnt from her experience.

What is your background before starting your apprenticeship?

I completed my GCSEs in 2017 achieving successful results. I then studied Musical Theatre and Media A Levels in 2019 before completing work experience at a range of companies to understand identify where I saw myself working. I did some work experience with HomeServe and was offered a job in the Marketing Team, which I was over the moon to take up. I worked at HomeServe for 6 months and asked to develop my knowledge and skills further by completing the apprenticeship.

Why did you decide to sign up to the Marketing Manager apprenticeship?

I wanted to support and optimise my potential within my job role. As I work for a large corporation, my aim was to ensure I developed well-rounded knowledge of marketing and business by developing my skillset across all areas. Additionally, I wanted to progress within HomeServe when I was ready and the Level 6 Apprenticeship enabled me to develop the relevant behaviours needed to successfully manage a team.

How did the apprenticeship support your daily work?

The apprenticeship supported my daily job role by developing my knowledge. I was able to use the theory I learnt to compose business cases, and the skills I acquired allowed me to go above and beyond my job role. Finally, my apprenticeship also enabled me to progress internally to a Marketing Manager. I now work within the Customer Value Team, responsible for in life customer communications, customer loyalty and retention.

How did Oxford Professional Education support your apprenticeship?

Oxford Professional Education has supported me throughout my apprenticeship tremendously! I had a brilliant teacher, assessor and student support coordinator. Thank you to all!

Would you recommend the Marketing Manager apprenticeship to others?

I would recommend this apprenticeship to others as not only has it developed my knowledge, skills and behaviours – it has also allowed me to truly own my personal development and take the next step in my career.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting an apprenticeship?

Do it! Personal development, learning and optimising your skills and knowledge is so important. You can do it!
