Sarah Heath is the Head of Marketing at 2SIMPLE. Sarah tells us about her employer apprenticeship story and what it’s like to take on a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprentice through Oxford Professional Education.
Can you tell us a little bit about your company?
2Simple is an independent UK-based educational technology company founded in 1999 with a singular mission: to transform teaching and learning through innovative, accessible, and impactful software. Today, our resources are used by more than 2 million learners in over 11,000 schools across 74 countries, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, the United States, the UAE, Australia, Spain, Hong Kong, and Qatar.
What were your reasons for taking on an apprentice?
We decided to take on an apprentice to provide them with the opportunity to learn and develop new skills in a practical, hands-on environment. By working alongside the marketing team, our apprentice can gain valuable experience while directly applying their learning to their role. This approach benefits both the apprentice and our business, as it enables the immediate application of skills in real-world situations whilst strengthening our team by integrating fresh talent eager to grow and make a difference.
The apprenticeship landscape can be quite confusing, particularly for those employers perhaps considering taking on an apprentice for the first time. How easy did you find it to start an apprentice on programme with us?
The process from start to finish has been simple and hassle free. The support provided has meant it’s been an easy decision to take on an apprentice.
Can you see progression in your apprentice’s workplace skills due to the programme?
It’s been great to watch our apprentice grow within her role and become more confident when contributing to team meetings as well as the workload.
How satisfied are you with the skills and knowledge of your OXPE trainer?
The trainer’s ability to provide clear instruction, relevant insights, and ongoing support has greatly enhanced the experience for all involved.
Do you feel that OXPE is a flexible and responsive organisation that supports both apprentices and employers?
Their proactive approach to communication and willingness to adapt to changes have made the process seamless. For instance, when our apprentice needed to adjust her final project submission dates to align with our customer lifecycle, OXPE was very accommodating and quickly adjusted to ensure everything ran smoothly.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about taking on an apprentice?
My advice would be to embrace the opportunity and recognise the long-term benefits of nurturing fresh talent.
