The Procurement and Supply Chain Practitioner Apprenticeship develops the skills needed to manage budgets, navigate procurement life cycles and negotiate contracts. Apprentices also have the opportunity to build key professional behaviours, fostering positive stakeholder relationships and identifying opportunities to drive effective change.

This Level 4 programme is best suited to those with some junior experience in the industry. In addition, apprentices work towards the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).

The Procurement and Supply Chain Apprenticeship includes the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply. This means apprentices will automatically gain the CIPS Diploma by completing the apprenticeship.

For apprentices aged 16-18, achieving Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English is mandatory, unless already obtained the equivalent GCSE at grade 4/C or above.

For apprentices aged 19 and over, undertaking Functional Skills is optional but must be agreed with the employer.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, Procurement and Supply Chain Practitioner apprentices will gain the following knowledge and skills, and will be able to exhibit the following behaviours:

Context of Procurement and Supply – How an organisation’s money is spent and difference between private and public sector procurement.

Pre-Procurement and Market Engagement – Knowledge of cost and pricing models, commercial concepts, and business needs.

Contract and Supplier Management – How contract terms, conditions, and obligations affect delivery and supplier performance.

Negotiation and Communication Skills – Identify approaches to achieve agreements with external and internal stakeholders.

Cost and Performance Management – Carry out cost management and supplier performance monitoring techniques.
